Prompting in Nova works differently from other AI image tools. Understanding this difference is the key to getting great results.

The fundamental difference

Other AI tools: You upload a reference photo and describe what you want, including what the product looks like. The AI has to interpret your description and guess the product details.

Nova: You describe only the scene โ€” the environment, lighting, and composition. Nova already knows exactly what your product looks like through the Digital Product Identity (DPI). The AI doesn't have to guess.

This means your prompts should focus entirely on the world around the product, not on the product itself.

What to include in your prompt

Setting / Location โ€” Where is the product? A studio, a living room, a garden, a coffee shop, an abstract background?

Lighting / Mood โ€” What's the atmosphere? Golden hour, soft daylight, dramatic studio lighting, moody and dark, bright and airy?

Camera / Composition โ€” How is the shot framed? Close-up, wide shot, low angle, overhead? What lens? (35mm for wide, 50mm for natural, 85mm for tight.)

Style details (optional) โ€” What else is in the scene? Plants, textures, props, colors?

What NOT to include

Don't describe the product. Nova knows what it looks like.

Don't write: "A green leather backpack with black straps placed in a studio"

Do write: "Placed in a studio with a fully orange backdrop, studio product photography"

Don't write: "A grey corner sofa with soft cushions in a modern living room"

Do write: "Modern loft living room, floor-to-ceiling windows, 35mm lens, golden hour"
