GS1 is the global standard for product identification and imagery. Many retailers and marketplaces require GS1-compliant product images.

What is GS1?

GS1 is an international organization that develops standards for business communication. Their Product Image Standard defines how product images should be photographed and formatted for retail use.

GS1 angles in Nova

Nova includes five GS1-compliant camera angles:

GS1 Hero — The primary product image. This is the most important GS1 angle and is often the only one required. It shows the product from the front at a standard angle and perspective.

GS1 A1L1 — Front view with left orientation

GS1 A1N7 — Front view with neutral orientation

GS1 A1R1 — Front view with right orientation

GS1 A7L7 — Additional supplementary angle

When do you need GS1 images?

GS1-compliant images are typically required when:

• Selling through major retailers (supermarkets, department stores)
• Listing on marketplaces that follow GS1 standards
• Providing product data to data pools or syndication services
• Working with large FMCG/CPG companies
